It’s been a while in the making, but we’re excited to announce our internship program has been re-ignited. Monash graduate Liora has joined us for our first 3 month placement. We love her energy, her passion and her hunger to learn.

October saw us officially launch our first studio exhibition. NOT ONLY BY NAME featured a diverse mix of works by Tim Sutherland, Mike Nguyen & Jesse Mallon. Broad contrasts of individuality were explored through a mix of personal expression which transcended abstract landscapes, contemporary vivid pop-art, and moving and powerful photographic portraits.

We’d like to thank everyone who supported us; Fini Frames, JCP Studios, K.W.Doggett, Press Print, Diadem, Contre, Negotiants and the overwhelming response of people who came to see the show.

Welcome Ella

We’re excited to introduce our new Designer Ella. After being awarded DIA’s Emerging Designer Award in 2010, Ella completed an internship at the prestigious Neumeister Studio in Stockholm. Following that she gained valuable branding experience with Canyon in the fields of property development, retail and hospitality. Ella also brings to us a strong digital background, and a passion for beautiful and intelligent conceptual design. We look forward to you meeting her soon.

We warmly welcomed our new Account Director this April. With principle roles in account management and studio management, Claudia Boman brings to Brave a wide range of agency branding experience with a focus on FMCG, Corporate and residential and commercial property development. Her client’s have included; General Mills, ALDI, Penfolds, One&Only Hayman Island, Mirvac, Lendlease, Gurner, Fridcorp and CBUS. Claudia also supports the team with client insight and industry knowledge that promotes intelligent and considered creative.

Tractor time

Always love meeting with new young guns. We met a bunch of first and second year Tractor Design School students for a new series of workshops called LunchMeet.

No slides, no pre-prepared speech, no strings attached, just a casual lunch date. The students picked our brains to find out more about us, how we work, and our opinion on the state of the design world.

Our friend and gifted photographer Derek Swalwell exhibited his amazing Tokyo project throughout October at JCP Studios in Cremorne. The show featured hypnotic landscapes and a series documenting the iconic Okra Hotel prior to its recent demise. We were thrilled to work with Derek to name and brand the event. WAKE – A word that references both the beginning and the end.

Jesse and Mike hosted this years ‘Inside Nights’ event for the Design Institute of Australia’s VIC/TAS branch. The boys gave the emerging students and graduates a rarely exposed insight into entire design process behind our current Hugo Property Development branding project.

Studio Brave has been featured in a new book Multicolour, Palette No.2, published by Viction:ary. The publication celebrates vivid colourful design and branding projects from all over the world. The project selected was the 2012 St Kilda Film Festival campaign.

Studio Brave picked up 2 awards at the AGDA Australian Design Biennale 2012.

Our campaign for the 2012 St Kilda Film Festival picked up an award in the Identity category, and our own Being Brave Four Book won for Self Promotion.

Studio Brave has been featured in the new book Relogo: Re-designing the brand, published by Sandu. The Rebrand for Regional Arts Victoria was selected. It will be available for purchase in March 2012.

We were invited to design the cover for the March 2012 edition of Desktop. We came up with an abstract representation of the Kick-Start Program.

Being Brave Four

Our fourth studio publication won first prize in the Fedrigoni Top Applications Award in Italy. We were honoured to have been invited to Milan in 2012 to accept the award.

The project won the HP Indigo category, and was printed by Melbourne’s Bambra Press on Spicers Splendorgel.

Studio Brave had 5 brandmarks featured in design publication Logology®2, The Wonderland of Logo Design. The book was produced by international publisher Viction:ary and is available in good bookstores and online.
